The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 (NATO reporting name Fagot) is a jet fighter aircraft developed by the Soviet Union. The MiG-15 was one of the first successful jet fighters to incorporate swept wings to achieve high transonic speeds. In combat over Korea, it outclassed straight-winged jet day fighters and was quickly countered by the similar American swept-wing North American F-86 Sabre. The MiG-15 is often mentioned, along with the F-86 Sabre, as the best fighter aircraft of the Korean War. On July 26 1955 the Israeli passenger aircraft Lockheed L-104 Constellation during its flight 402 performed unauthorized entry in the Bulgarian air space. But near the border it made a sharp turn, trying to escape in Greece. The MiGs’ pilots received an order to shoot it down and after a sharp burst of gun fire the Constellation was destroyed. That what was interesting are the facts that on the controls of the Constellation wat the former private Churchill pilot, on board was one of the top Mossad agents, ant that in the remnants of the aircraft was found 300 kg silver balls.
