The aeronautical firm of the brothers Maurice and Henri Farman in Bilancourt, the Department of the Seine, was one of the oldest in France. It was founded in 1908, from the very beginning the company produced aircraft designed by its creators. The brothers worked both together and independently, respectively, the aircraft were assigned the designation MF, HF and F.

The machines Created by the company were characteristic shelves with a pushing screw. Before the war, the aircraft "Farman" were widespread in France and Europe. With the beginning of the First World war, the aircraft "Farman" began to be used in the army:
usually as reconnaissance vehicles, and sometimes as bombers, which contributed to the good load capacity of aircraft.
Plane Farman HF.27 appeared in early 1915. It became a further development of the aircraft Farman HF.22 with a number of significant changes in the airframe and power plant design. In particular, the wingspan of the lower wing was increased, a four - wheeled chassis of the "Voisin" type and a much more powerful stationary water-cooled engine "Salmson P9" with a capacity of 150 HP was installed. In addition, unlike previous Henri Farman aircraft, the pilot in the gondola was placed in front, and the observer-behind.
Several modifications of the aircraft were released: Farman HF scouts.27A-2, Farman HF bombers.27B-2 et al.
Plane Farman HF.27 was a double-a single-engine biplane of mixed construction. The aircraft had a mixed design with a
predominance of metal. The fuselage gondola is wooden, the covering is aluminum sheet, plywood and matter. The fuselage itself was formed by a frame of steel pipes with wooden spacers. From Farman HF.27 pipe mated to the steering unit.
The frame of the fuselage was strengthened with a wire stretch marks. The wings are wooden, thin profile, without elevation, rectangular, of the same width, sheathed with matter. Water-cooled engine "Salmson P9", pusher propeller, wooden, two-blade.
Standard aircraft did not have machine-gun weapons. In combat units, aircraft were sometimes armed with machine guns on the rack or turrets. Small arms-machine gun "Lewis" or "Vickers" with store food. This aircraft already had a special system of suspension bombs, which were suspended bombs weighing up to 400 kg.
Aircraft Farman HF.27 the first of the series was not painted. Later there was a painting of the upper and lateral surfaces in the protective, and later the lower surfaces-in light blue.
In 1915, the company Farman was built about 100 machines. A year later, another 50 copies produced by the Moscow
plant "Dux" |
